There’s nothing quite like buying your first bike!
You work hard for your money, and when that hard work makes it possible for you to buy your first bike, nothing is more exciting. At Big Sleazy Inc., we love all things motorcycles, and that’s why we put on New Orleans’ best motorcycle event every single year. We would love to help you find the perfect bike for you, and we’ve come up with this list of a few things to consider to do just that:
#1. You will probably drop it.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of new riders end up dropping their first bikes. There are two main ways that you could cope with this problem: you could buy a used bike that won’t cost you an arm and a leg to repair if you drop it or you could buy a bike that is more manageable, lighter and, therefore, less likely to get dropped.
#2. Is the bike too heavy for you?
While you are moving, the weight of your bike doesn’t matter as much, but when you are in stop-and-go traffic, it could definitely be an issue if you buy a bike that is too heavy. If necessary, seek advice from your friends that have experience riding or the dealership about how heavy your bike should be.
#3. Does the bike have storage?
If you are planning to take your bike around town when you are grocery shopping and running other errands, you are going to need some storage space. You also need storage space for long distance bike trips, so make sure you find a bike with adequate storage.
